Overview: Tesla is preparing to flip the switch on a new era of urban mobility. The Cybercab, also called the Robotaxi, is a two-seat electric car designed to operate without pedals or steering wheel. With dihedral doors and a big rear liftgate, the minimalist interior maximizes passenger space, using a freestanding 21 ‑inch touchscreen to control everything.

Lounge-Like Cabin: Without driver controls, the cabin becomes a lounge-like space with vegan-leather seats, ambient lighting and no traditional dashboard. Cameras and light bars replace mirrors, and power-operated butterfly doors ease entry. There's surprising cargo space under the rear hatch—20–30 cubic feet—so passengers can travel with luggage.


Performance & Autonomy:  is built on Tesla’s Hardware 5 platform with Level 4 autonomy. A single rear‑mounted motor delivers about 200–250 horsepower, a 50–60 kWh battery offers around 300 miles of range, and inductive charging pads will top up the battery between rides. Tesla claims its Full Self‑Driving software is already much safer than a human driver.


Manufacturing & Economics: To manufacture the Cybercab affordably, Tesla uses an “unboxed” process at Giga Texas—modules are built separately and assembled nat the end. With only around 80 major parts, this could enable production of a car every five seconds as the process matures. Tesla hopes to price the Cybercab around $30,000, lowering ride‑hail operating costs to 20–40 cents per mile.


Timeline & Impact: The first Cybercab rolled off the line at Giga Texas in February 2026 and mass production is set for April 2026. A limited robotaxi service could launch mid‑2026 with consumer deliveries later that year. If regulators agree, the Cybercab may become a key piece of Tesla’s robotaxi network, offering affordable, autonomous rides and reshaping city travel.
